About
About Fudan University
Fudan University (复旦大学) was founded in Shanghai in 1905 as Fudan Public School — the first institution of higher education established by a Chinese citizen. Its name, drawn from a Confucian classic, evokes brilliant light renewing itself day after day.
Today Fudan is a comprehensive C9 League university and a Class A Double First-Class institution, organized into 11 faculties spanning philosophy, economics, law, the humanities, science, engineering, medicine, management and the arts. It took its modern form after merging with Shanghai Medical University in 2000.
Fudan teaches around 30,000 students, including more than 3,600 international students, across four campuses in Shanghai, and offers over 50 English-taught programs at undergraduate and graduate level.
